Project Description

Project Brief

Creators and publishers of homeschool educational curriculum, Teach4Mastery approached Helming Creative to design a brand for its new math program. The Perceptions program is designed to reach 1st to 3rd graders via standards, multiplication, division, and fractions intervention.

The Challenge

The concept of the math program centered around the way a student perceives mathematical principles.  Building upon this idea, the authors asked for the idea of realizing or seeing be conveyed by the brand.  With an audience of 1st through 3rd grade and their homeschooling parents, the brand needed to engage the young without alienating the mature.

The Solution

After several rounds of sketches and comps, the light bulb symbol rang true and finally served as the brand’s pictorial symbol. Since the Perceptions program consists of two phases, a blue and green rendition were created. The levels were depicted with mathematical symbols as appropriate and color differentials, respectively.

A Logo Should Speak

Located in Carlsbad, California, Darton Sleeves is a division of Darton International, Inc. A wholesaler to the aftermarket racing enthusiast, Darton employs a market strategy aimed at becoming the primary sleeve supplier of choice for small engine shops and OEM’s alike. The logo mark is used on everything from digital media (website, videos) to print ads and racing decals.

The American Relief Foundation Organization’s Got Your Back San Diego is a weekend food assistance program for children attending San Diego County Schools who have been identified as homeless or food-insecure, that is – kids who don’t know where their next meal will come from. Helming Creative donated this logo design to the organization, which is used through its marketing materials.

The Teach4Mastery company approached Helming Creative to design a product logo for a new line of math products. Used as a supplement to core math instruction or as part of the Perceptions Program, MasterPieces are powerful math manipulatives that are made out of molded ABS plastic.  These blocks are color coded and able to demonstrate concrete, representational, and abstract concepts.
